In Conversation with Maria Elena Daynes and Marie-Angel Chevrier de Rien, Théra
In this conversation, StoryMoss explores European indigeneity and the French cultural roots of bioregioning with Maria-Elena Daynes and Marie-Angel Chevrier de Rien, speaking from the Bioregional Learning Centre of Thera, in the south-west of France.
Focusing entirely on bioregioning, the 12th International r3.0 conference held in September 2025 has offered a powerful catalyst for bioregional thinking and practice, with hundreds of people around the world joining from "confluence" gatherings held in their local bioregions.
A French language confluence held at Thera brought together a nascent local bioregioning "sisterhood" to deepen and explore their own bioregional context, weaving rich themes of rural exodus from the region, terroir and cultural identity with the land, the opportunity of trauma integration for inner / outer transformation, and much more.
As Maria-Elena and Marie-Angel surface in this beautiful conversation, French bioregionalism has its own distinct cultural root, and offers a powerful opportunity to revisit history and ancestry, while envisioning a thriving rural future that is connected deeply to the land.
