Annie Spade - A truly magical confluence in Balcones Tejas
Annie Spade and Kiran Topiwala organized a magical confluence of artmaking, storytelling, deep time and land connection in the Balcones Tejas Bioregion.

This beautiful essay written by Annie Spade opens with a full moon moment of making music, real music, through which the author feels the joyful tremblings of the Blackland Prairie of the Balcones Tejas Bioregion, and the Earth beyond! Annie evokes the magic of gathering in ritual, with a deep intention to create and hold space for healing, creativity and regeneration to emerge. From intergenerational restorative rites to ancient springs and rock paintings, the making of art and sharing of meals, the stories are held in a spiral of rope laid out on the floor, representing the 13.8 billion year unfolding of the universe. The stories, conveyed in Annie's writing, hold magical moments, with beautiful pictures also by Annie, Kiran Topiwala and Caroline Dunn.

Here is a flipbook with the story of their magical gathering:

Annie Spade worked in Montessori education with 2-6 year olds for 40 years, most of it on eight wild acres in Central Texas. "The child alive in each of us holds the key to love of our planet-home," she writes.
